Take your time and read each question carefully.
Every question on the test is taken from the California Driver Handbook. The official exam is available in several languages, large print English, an audio version, or a video version for those who use American Sign Language. The “print” size can be enlarged to make the knowledge test easier to read. The TST system does not require computer skills and there is no mouse. You'll select your preferred language, log in using the same thumbprint that you used to begin the driver license process, and begin the multiple choice test. You will take the test on a touchscreen computer at one of the DMV’s Touchscreen Terminals (TSTs). If you fail 3 times, you’ll have to reapply entirely. Your application fee allows you 3 chances to pass the knowledge test. If you fail the written test, you are required to wait 7 days before attempting it again. You're allowed to make 3 mistakes maximum. What to expect from your official exam at the DMV To simulate the DMV experience, this Exam Simulator offers no hints, no explanations, and it will shut off if you miss 3 questions (just like the test screens at the DMV). We recommend you take it at least three times, but please feel free to take it as many times as you need to confidently conquer the real test. You'll get a new set of 18 questions every time you restart it.
